Does a solar panel warranty include labour?
Separate product, performance and workmanship warranties from service fees.
The answer first
Do not assume the panel warranty covers every expense. Read labour, removal/reinstallation, transport and other equipment terms separately, including who handles claims and what evidence is required.
Different warranties cover different things
Product warranties, panel-performance warranties and installation warranties are separate. Inverters, batteries and roof work may have different durations and exclusions. Obtain documents for the actual models before agreeing.
Include less-visible costs
Ask about travel, labour, scaffolding, panel removal to access microinverters, shipping and spare-part lead times. Find out how to contact the manufacturer or importer if the installer closes.
Keep records from day one
Save serial numbers, receipts, warranty start dates, acceptance records and baseline production. Keep monitoring access under homeowner control. Check abnormal readings against the manual and contact the responsible party.
